The 2023 group included surface pumps 100mm and above and bores 200mm and above. It also included some at-risk groundwater sources. The Southern Inland group covered the Lower Darling, Murray, Murrumbidgee and Lachlan regions
Now that the deadline has passed, we are ensuring that the highest volume water users in the 2023 group are following the rules.
We are focusing on high-volume works, of which there are approximately 3,500. We estimate that 20 per cent of works account for approximately 80 per cent of total water take.
Although the deadline has passed, we continue to check if the southern inland group are following the rules. We do this using both desktop assessments and site inspections.
